Children in Need

So with Children in Need coming up in a couple of weeks time I thought it would be nice to offer a CIN skin for people wishing to donate to the charity.

The [name] will of course be changed to your name/nickname.

The trailer is a stand alone trailer and does not replace any company.
It will pull the following cargo: Clothes, Fizzy Drinks, Electronics, Packaged Foods, Medicine and Toys.
It will deliver to/from the following companies: Eurogoodies, Kaarfor (in only), Posped, Sellplan (in only), Stokes, Tradeaux, Trameri, and Transinet.
Please note: The mod is compatible with game version 1.4.1 and above, it will not work on any older version.

How long will this be open & what happens to the money: This year the Children in Need BBC TV event will take place on Friday 15th November. On the morning of Saturday 16th, I will be removing the donation instructions and sending any/all donations to the official Paypal of Children in Need.

When will you receive the trailer: I will endeavour to complete and email your trailer within an hour of receiving payment, assuming you send payment between 10am-10pm GMT.

Will you make charity skins in the future: That really depends on how well this works.  The more interest there is, the more likely I will do it in future for other charities.

How it works:

For any donation of 50p or over you will receive this Children in Need stand alone trailer with your name/nickname on it. Follow the instructions below if you would like to make a donation.

Donation period has ended.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you fill in the email form and include the following: The name you wish to appear on the trailer & the email address where you want the trailer to be sent.

If you are unfamiliar with Children in Need you can find more about it on the BBC wesite here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey

If you would like to donate but have no interest in the trailer; please donate directly to Children in Need via the BBC website.

The Big Stobart Mod – Versions 0.2.2 & 0.3

tbsm

So I recently learned how to make the truck skinning templates using Blender; which lead me to thinking if I can do it for trucks, why not trailers? As I am sure any skinner out there is aware, the game uses an individual file for companies (as default) for all trailer types. So Krone/Schmidt/Tanker all use one skin file, which is great until you realise the back of them are located slightly differently (do to shape) meaning it is VERY BLOODY HARD to line everything up correctly for all types.

So today I decided I would try and make my own templates and succeeded in my goal. While this is be somewhat useful for general company skin mods, it is invaluable for the Big Stobart Mod. Which brings us into the first point of this post, the BSM has a minor update from v0.2 to v0.2.2 – This is a small skin update for the tanker to relocate the S logo on the back to the centre. If you are already using the v0.2 mod you can safely install this update without the game cancelling your current job.

BSM v0.3

My first plan of action for the 0.3 update will be to change the Biomass & Green (solid) trailers. Currently I only have the models for the two Krone trailers (curtain/Profi-liner and Fridge/cool-liner) as a result they are both using the fridge trailer, what I want to do is update them to a Schmidt Universal trailer. I have also considered try a little bit of modelling to make the Biomass have the green curtain top, but since my ability to 3d model is weak at best that may not happen.

I am also considering include one of the Rugby League trailer skin to add a little variety to the fridge units on the road. This would most likely be the group trailer rather than one of the individual team ones.

I may also consider adding new cargo, so if there is anything specific people would like to see, by all means leave a comment.

Hochtief & Buckfast trailers

As of March 9th 2015 the Buckfast trailers were merged into a Combo Pack with the truck skin.

As mentioned earlier, these are stand alone buckfast trailers that will be available in several company yards. (see company mods page for details.)

Hochtief is a German construction company that replaces Sanbuilders. The company mod also includes this stand alone trailer that will be pulled to/from Sanbuilders, Posped and Stokes.

Update 27th Oct – New Volvo 2012 Grills

The new Volvo has two variations, the FH & FH16. The Volvo FH has a black grill and is available for engines with 540HP or less.
The Volvo FH16 has the chrome grill and is available with engines of 540HP and upwards.

This mod allows you to chose between the black or chrome grills for all engine power. The FH/FH16 badge will be shown correctly for which ever colour you choose. Engines with the letter “B” at the end are the alternate versions, without a “B” are the stock SCS versions.

Preview: Neal Haulage

So what am I working on? I found Neal Haulage while looking through Google for skins to make.

When I started this project, I had no idea how time consuming it was going to be. We’ve got all the blue and yellow/orange that fades in places, while not exactly difficult it was sure time consuming. What surprised me was how long I spent making, positioning, and resizing the Topline V8 logo. All told 40 minutes and it’s not finished yet, not sure if the image will be big enough to see, but the “8” isn’t there yet, just the place holder I put in (which happens to be the Scania logo.)

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Update – 25th – Scania Template

Thanks to a little help from Ohaha on the SCS forum, I have learnt how to make my own templates.

As a result I have done away with the original Scania V4 mod template by maghetto and made my own. Any one familiar with his original template will understand the issues with it, mainly the overly thick black lines which made accuracy to place delicate/accurate paintwork on the front grill very difficult.

I have now created my own template for the front grill and added it to original Scania templates by szeryff123. The new template should be much easier to work with and I hope it will be useful for you. The Scania template folder now has two folders: Original and IJs ScanV4 — The original folder is szeryff123’s template for the original model and the latter is of course my version for the v4 mod.

These templates and the templates for the new Volvo FH are all included in the template archive found on the Truck Skinning tutorial page.
